Upcoming PS5 Games I can’t wait to play (October 2020)

10 PS5 games that I'm looking forward to playing

.

With less than a month to go now until the new PS5 is released in the UK, there’s lots of upcoming game releases that I’m super excited about.

Quick disclaimer, not all the games in this list are PS5 exclusives. Some are available on the PS4 and a couple are cross platform.

So in no particular order, here are 10 games excited about playing.

1) Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart

I was really impressed with the graphics in Ratchet and Clank when it was released on the PS4 back in 2016, so I had high hopes when they announced the upcoming Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart game.

And based on the gameplay footage they’ve released so far, this game looks like it won’t disappoint.

The graphics look amazing, I’d go as far as saying these are Pixar quality! The lighting looks really natural and this game really looks like it’s going to harness the power of the PS5. There’s so much stuff happening on screen at the same time. Just look at the particle effects, physics and explosions. It just looks so smooth and the nostalgia is really hitting me right now. I can’t wait for this to launch!

2) Horizon Forbidden West

If you’ve watched my PS4 games under £10 video, you’ll know that Horizon Zero Dawn is one of my absolute favourite games on the PS4. So I was super excited when they announced the new Horizon Forbidden West game. The announcement trailer blew my mind!

This game looks like a masterpiece. The graphics look incredible. I love the tropical settings we’ve been shown so far! Plus the new mechanical creatures look absolutely gorgeous but equally as menacing.

If I have to pick a game I’m most excited about, I’d have to say it’s this one! I’d be lying if I said I only watched this trailer once. I can’t wait for this game to be released in 2021!

3) Kena Bridge of Spirits

Another game I’m eagerly awaiting to play is Kena: Bridge of Spirits. Firstly can I just say AWWWWWW those little black creatures looks sooooo cuuuute! This year for Christmas I want… all of them!

Well it turns out those adorable creatures are called the Rot. They’re timid illusive spirits scattered throughout the forest and they help you throughout your adventure to uncover the story surrounding the demise of the village.

This game looks incredible, it’s both colourful and dark and makes me think of Ori combined with Disney. I think this is going to be a highly anticipated Indie game and I can’t wait to play it.

4) Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales

When I saw the first gameplay footage for Marvels’ Spider-Man: Miles Morales I was blown away.

It looks like the game is set at Christmas time. This means there’s some really pretty environments to both walk around and fight in, with Christmas lights twinkling and reflecting realistically in puddles.

I put a lot of time into completing the Spiderman game on the PS4 because I loved swinging around the city, collecting research tokens and solving puzzles. It looks like this game is going to be just as fun, if not better, especially with it’s enhanced graphics on the PS5. Really looking forward to this one.

5) Sackboy: A big adventure

The Little Big Planet games were a massive couch co-op hit for me, so when they announced the release of Sackboy: A Big Adventure, I was thrilled. This looks like it’s going to be a super creative 3D platformer with tonnes of variety.

It’s great that the Design Director Ned Waterhouse has said that they’ve designed some co-op specific levels where you can either help or hinder your friends, but I do think it will be a shame if Steven Fry doesn’t return to narrate it, as he did such a good job in the other games.

All in all the trailer for this game looks fantastic. It’s definitely making it on my list of upcoming games to play.

6) Oddworld: Soulstorm

I absolutely loved the previous OddWorld games so when I saw the trailer for the upcoming Oddword: Soulstorm game, I did squeak a bit! I then started saying some of Abe’s popular lines like “hello” and “follow me.” He’s got such a funny voice.

It looks like the usual mixture of platforming and enemy manipulation will return, so the game is staying true to its original game mechanics.

Game designer Lorne Lanning has said that the “Stakes are higher, threats are larger, obstacles are more devious” and “this has all been made possible by the PS5.” And this certainly seems to be the case from the trailer. I’m really looking forward to playing this one.

7) Hogwarts Legacy

I am so excited about the upcoming Hogwarts Legacy game. From the moment the Harry Potter theme tune played in the trailer I felt the magic oozing out of this game.

The trailer shows lots of scenes set around the Iconic Hogwarts grounds, but the characters are all new and unrelated to Harry Potter, as it is set in the late 1800s… although I do wonder if we’re likely to see a young Dumbledore..

It looks like you’ll be able to create your own custom character. You’ also be able to decide whether to use your magic for good or evil. The graphics look absolutely amazing in this. I can’t wait to explore the stunning open world they’ve created.

8) Returnal

I was really intrigued by the announcement trailer for Returnal. It reminds me of Groundhog Day but in space. It’s as if they’ve made a game for the film Edge of Tomorrow. You’ve got to try to survive a hostile planet that changes with every death. Being stuck in this endless loop of the crash, the attack and your death makes me want to figure out how you break the loop. It’s made by a relatively small game studio and whilst I don’t think it will appeal to everyone, I am looking forward to trying this rogue-like game when it comes out.

9) Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

Although the announcement trailer doesn’t give a lot away about the gameplay in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, I am definitely going to be keeping an eye on this one.

What we know so far is that the game is going to focus around Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark and it looks like there’s going to be a variety of weapons and gadgets to play with. Harley’s can quickly move around with her grapple & fights with her iconic baseball bat, Deadshot has got a jet pack and is armed with several guns, King Shark is huge and menacing and is armed with a handheld turret and finally Captain Boomerang can flit around the screen when he throws his boomerang and also has a small shotgun.

There’s going to be a long wait for this game, but it looks fun and should be great to play in co-op.

10) God of War: Ragnorok

Another upcoming game I’m really excited about is the God of War: Ragnorok game. The teaser trailer doesn’t give a lot away, other than a suggested release date of 2021. At this point there hasn’t been any confirmation from the developers about this date. But it does remind me how epic a job Christopher Judge did when voicing Kratos and how amazing the soundtrack was in the last God of War game. I literally haven’t seen any gameplay footage or trailer footage and I am itching to buy and play this one.
